Ready, Set, Breathe: Parenting Through Stressful Times


Hello everyone,  I was looking at our bookshelf this week and pulled out a couple of volumes on parenting that I love both by author and social worker Carla Naumburg.

   It is rare to find an general parenting author that speaks so well to all parents, including the parents of quirky and anxious kids.  Carla walks her walk and has a powerful message about staying grounded in the present moment and truly being available to ourselves and our children.

“Teen Talk: Healthy ways to manage stress and anxiety”  
Girls, ages 14-17
Every Tuesday 6:00 – 7:00pm
Oct. 4th – Nov. 22
In this 8 week program, you will learn practical and effective techniques to reduce anxiety by mastering:
  • Relaxation
  • Coping with stress
  • Overcoming negative self talk
  • Changing mistaken beliefs
  • Increasing self esteem

The Girls’ Group”
Girls ages 11-13
Every Wednesday 4:00pm – 5:00pm
Oct. 5th – Nov. 23
This 8 week group is for tween and young teen girls looking for a positive peer support system to navigate the social pressures facing today’s youth. Topics may include:
  • Peer pressure
  • Social media
  • Relationships
  • Self esteem
There are NO limits placed on the topics that can be discussed.
